Curbing Climate Anxiety: STEM Expo🌍
What a powerful and joy-filled weekend! Sunday, we celebrated our amazing Co-Founder Nichelle’s birthday, and Monday, we celebrate Happy Mama Happy Mini’s anniversary. This Expo couldn’t have been more aligned with our daily mission and purpose reminding us why we do this work.
A huge thank you to the City of Atlanta Sustainability Office for selecting our group to represent this season. Special shout out to all the incredible minds that made this possible!!! You showed up with brilliance, creativity, and dedication.
The keynote @chemystree set the tone perfectly, inspiring us all to think deeper about climate, mental health, community solutions and even AI. We were also so proud to see the AUC (Atlanta University Center) well represented as current leaders shaping today’s conversations. 🙌
Our Founders, Hannah Marie & Nichelle also held a powerful Mental Health & Climate Workshop, creating space for reflection, healing, and action at the intersection of wellness and sustainability.
Yes, there were hurdles along the way… a lot of them… but guess what? WE DID IT! And in the end, it all came together seamlessly (even felt flawless after it was over, lol).
To our sponsors, thank you for believing in the youth and this vision.
To our facilitators, thank you for pouring into this project with heart and wisdom.
And a special heartfelt thank you to Linda, Vony, and Kenneth from the Lonnie Johnson STEM Center; your support was everything!
Here’s to more healing, learning, and action at the intersections of mental health, climate, and youth empowerment.
Atlanta, GA — On Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the City of Atlanta will host the inaugural Curbing Climate Anxiety: STEAM Expo, an innovative, youth-centered event that empowers youth to take action on climate change while addressing the growing issue of climate anxiety. Organized and supported by Happy Mama Happy Mini Inc., this one-of-a-kind expo brings together students, families, and community members for a day of environmental education, mental health workshops, and sustainable action.
Meet the STEAM Team!
At the Curbing Climate Anxiety: STEAM Expo, our STEAM Team is powered by passionate experts, educators, and student leaders who bring Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math to life in meaningful ways.
This project is led by a dedicated cohort of local HBCU college students, who have spent months designing an event that uplifts youth voices and showcases their role in building a greener, more hopeful future. These student leaders have curated interactive workshops, coordinated DIY planting stations, organized poster presentations, and will facilitate mental health sessions that directly address the emotional weight of climate concerns.
Together, the STEAM Team sparks creativity, eases climate worries through knowledge, and empowers the next generation with tools to turn anxiety into action.
”STEAM Expo is more than an event— it’s a call to action and a space for healing,” said a student organizer. “We want young people to leave feeling inspired, equipped, and hopeful.”
Event highlights include:
• Youth-led presentations on sustainability innovations
• Climate-focused workshops on energy, water, food systems, transportation, and waste
• Mental health sessions promoting resilience and eco-hope
• DIY planting and interactive exhibits
• Awards for youth innovation and community engagement
The event will also track participants’ feelings of “hope” at the beginning and end of the day, providing measurable insight into the power of youth-driven solutions to climate anxiety.
Happy Mama Happy Mini Inc., a local nonprofit supporting maternal and youth mental health, is proud to sponsor this initiative as part of its commitment to nurturing healthy futures for families and communities. “We believe that mental wellness and environmental justice go hand-in-hand,” said Nichelle, Co-Founder of Happy Mama Happy Mini Inc. “This event puts youth at the center of the solution, something our city and our future desperately need.”
Join us in supporting Atlanta’s youth under HBCU scholars' leadership as they plant seeds of sustainability and hope.
